“I hope that the USA is ready to win Sofronio even though he is from the Philippines. He deserves it more. He has the talent. He has the voice,” wrote another netizen.

Last week, Vasquez secured a spot in the playoffs after winning the 3-way knockout round with his performance of Dusty Springfield’s “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me,” earning him a place in the Top 20.

He previously triumphed in the Battles round, where he faced Aliyah Khaylyn in a duet of Celine Dion’s “The Power of Love” last month.

Vasquez first gained recognition as a contender on “It’s Showtime” segment “Tawag Ng Tanghalan,” where he reached the semifinals.
